DIY tile path

by dailymoney

Bought a cottage, or a country house – how I want to make it cozy and comfortable. And of course it all starts with the improvement of the territory. Any improvement begins with the laying of paths that do not knead dirt every day. You can hire masters from various companies or just private traders. But if you understand a little in the repair, there is free time – you can lay the tile yourself, especially, the work done with your own hands will bring you a lot of joy. And save money, to pay for the master. There is nothing complicated about it. We give you step -by -step instructions, and if you have a desire to do this, you will cope.

Let’s start by points:

We mark our track, while we need to apply it not only to its contour in the plan, but also to provide the necessary slopes: 3-4 centimeters by 10 m, both along and across, so that the water runs off it, it is advisable to use the level, but you can take it transparent hose with water. We pull the fishing line along the contours;

We prepare the so -called trough under the path – remove the turf, and the soil to a depth of 50 – 60 centimeters below the top of our path;

Along the contour of our path, where the curb stone will lie, we dive trenches for its styling, they should be a third on each side wider than its dimensions, and about fifteen centimeters deeper than its lower edge;

Cooking concrete (class in 7.5, do not need a higher), fill them with our trenches. Then, in the concrete on the fishing line we stretched, we install a border stone (here – more information about the curb stone), you can use a rubber or wooden hammer;

After the on -board stones are laid, and the concrete has acquired sufficient strength, we pour the base for the tile. It is advisable to make the lower layer out of crushed stone, the top of the sand-gravel mixture. The height of the base should be such that our paving slabs lay on it without playing behind the upper edge of the border. To level you, you can use the board with cuts to the height of the tiles along the edges, then just lie on the curbs and tighten the top of gravel;

We seal our base. The quality of the laying of the track and its durability depends on this. It is advisable to use a vibrating plate, make 5-10 passes, but there is another way-shed with gravel with water, and lets the dry, so several times. Sprinkle the mixture if necessary and tighten it again;

We lay the tiles – with a properly prepared base, and sustained sizes – it is no more difficult than collecting children’s mosaics. So that our paving slabs (here – learn more about paving slabs) lay exactly the rubber, in extreme cases, with a wooden hammer;

You can still wake up the seams with sand, and then remove it from above, but if the styling of high -quality it does not add anything to the durability of your work.

That’s all, as you can see, it is difficult. If the work is done with a soul and from good material, the path will last more than a dozen years.
